Anchor Bar Portstewart
The award-winning Anchor Bar is one of Northern Ireland’s oldest hospitality businesses with a proud heritage dating back to 1898.
Located at the centre of Portstewart, a thriving coastal town and popular holiday destination, the Anchor Bar has been providing food, entertainment and accommodation to both local and international visitors who come to explore the magnificence of Northern Ireland’s mystical North Coast.
2020 has been a year like no other, and Danny Coyles, the Anchor Bar’s General Manager, knows better than most, the challenges the hospitality sector has had to overcome.
As Chair of Hospitality Ulster, Danny has played a central role in engaging with government, the public health authorities and the wider industry to put in place the necessary arrangements to enable local hotels and restaurants to re-open safely.
The team at Gig Grafter are very proud to be working with Danny and his team at the Anchor Bar, who have been using our rota software to assist them in planning their rotas and in communicating with their staff.
In commenting on his experience implementing our rota software Danny explains:
“This summer has been really challenging, when we got the green light to re-open it was difficult to know how busy we would be and how many staff we could bring back”.
“The governments Eat Out to Help Out scheme provided a big boost but it shifted our busy days from the weekend to the early part of the week”
“In both instances our managers and staff had to operate in a very flexible way to respond to the changes in demand we were experiencing”
“Gig Grafter is a great tool to enable flexible rota planning. Our managers can make changes to their rota from their mobile phones whilst they work and our employees are always in the loop receiving immediate notifications of any changes that affect them”
“The big benefit for us is that staff scheduling has become much easier to manage despite the unpredictability of the environment we now operate in”.
